Unit Trust Calculator Uganda

Demonstration only. This is a demonstration calculator. The rates shown are recent reported rates used for illustration, and the results are estimates, not a promise of future returns. Unit trust returns change over time. To see live funds and invest, open the Level app.

Estimates assume a single investment at the start, the rate shown staying the same for the whole period, and no fees, top-ups or withdrawals.

Understanding Your Unit Trust Calculation

The calculator estimates how your investment could grow based on the assumptions you enter.

Total Contributions

This is the total amount of money you would contribute over the selected investment period, including your initial investment and regular monthly contributions.

Estimated Investment Growth

This is the projected growth generated by your investment based on the annual return entered into the calculator.

Projected Investment Value

This combines your total contributions and estimated investment growth to show what your investment could be worth at the end of the selected period.

The result is a projection, not a guaranteed return.

How Unit Trust Investment Growth Works

A Unit Trust pools money from different investors into a professionally managed fund.

Depending on the fund, the money may be invested in assets such as government securities, fixed-income securities, money market instruments or other investments.

Your investment can grow through returns generated by the underlying assets.

The amount you accumulate over time will depend on factors including:

  • How much you initially invest
  • How much you continue contributing
  • How long you remain invested
  • The performance of the fund
  • Applicable fees and other costs

The Effect of Regular Contributions

You don’t necessarily have to rely only on your initial investment.

Regular contributions can increase the amount of money working for you over time.

For example, an investor might start with UGX 100,000 and continue contributing UGX 100,000 every month.

After one year, the investor would have contributed UGX 1,300,000 before considering any investment growth.

Over longer periods, both continued contributions and investment returns can contribute to the projected value of the investment.

Use the calculator above to test different contribution amounts and investment periods.

Understanding the Assumed Annual Return

The annual return entered into the calculator is an assumption used to estimate future growth.

It is not a guaranteed return.

If you use a fund’s current or historical reported return as your assumption, this does not mean the fund will generate the same return in the future.

Returns can change as market conditions and the performance of the fund’s underlying investments change.

Unit Trust Calculator Example

Suppose you:

  • Start with UGX 1,000,000
  • Add UGX 200,000 per month
  • Invest for 5 years
  • Assume an annual return of 10%

The calculator can estimate your total contributions, projected investment growth and estimated value at the end of the five-year period.

Try changing the monthly contribution, investment period or assumed return to see how each variable affects the projection.
